Yann, the Green Giant ...
On October 15, 2008 by Yves Duteil
Yann Arthus Bertrand, photographer, humanist, loving the earth as much as beauty, chose to gain altitude to give us another look at the Blue Planet and conduct a tireless battle for sustainable development. His mind was too high up to be surprised by the ambient blindness. It began when something impossible and he did it: raising awareness of the beauty of the world. His first model was Hook, he followed a lioness in Kenya for three years, marveling at things from them every day a pleasure. One day a gorilla fell asleep two hundred pounds, confident, head resting on his foot in the bush. These animals have reinforced the idea that the image could translate feelings and emotions, far beyond the words. For the birth of the book "The Earth from Above," a first, a technical challenge, artistic and editorial unprecedented failure of the helicopter forced to land in the desert and leads to a family that the has welcomed over two long days of waiting, and exchanges. The father killed a goat to feed him and they talked. Even those who do not have a wealth that can not be discovered without linger. "Distance prevents compassion" he said in his speech ... and he continues: "A Tibetan tale:" I ' I saw a tree move. I approached. It was an animal. More closely, he was a man. As I approached again, I saw it was my brother. "He adds:" x Ceu who like see better. " Why is it so important to save the condors? "Because to save the condors, we must develop the same human qualities to save us from ourselves ..." Speaking of NGOs, associations with which it works with "Good Planet "It evokes the woman who helped a leper to die in the hugging. She was radiant. "Commitment makes them happy." He concluded his remarkable speech by telling us "it is too late to be pessimistic". Him new immortal, we proposed to capture. Any assistance has looked up at the camera he had placed at the top of the dome. "You have understood that I speak of love ... well here it is: I-love-you! "Today, October 15, 2008, at 16 hours, one eye on the world applied for the light at the Academy of Fine Arts.

Dear Yves,
I hear you talking about here enjoying reading this article. Yes I hear you really have to read it. You have once again found a fellow soldier. You fill in perfectly. The have you ever met Yan Arthus Bertrand? In the school where I work we have called his book "The Future of the land by Yan Arthus Bertrand" Some children have already taken in my library. My eyes are not as important as that of my fellow teachers and the children's families, I sincerely hope they have discussed together, to become aware of any work that remains to be done. Never forget that Yves "The slightest breath of air you open all your soul to the universe" and that you show us once again the right way. Yves you know that my words are sincere. With you, "The world will always have the beauty of the look that it poses with some of the time we leave a legacy that has enriched the gaze resting on him," I embrace. Nicolas (DIJON)
Hello Yves,
Many thanks for this beautiful tribute to Yann Arthus Bertrand.Belle consecration well deserved! Entry under the dome. (The green coat on green giant!)
I long for him great admiration, an immense appreciation for his fight.
I never miss his reportages.J 'will go home and see I'll buy the DVD
And thank you for the link to Good Planet.
Small drop of water limited, I try every day to do something for our beautiful planète.C is little, but as Mother Teresa said "the ocean is full of water drops"
I embrace you.
Annie
We like to be guided by your taste. We identify phrases Yann Arthus-Bertrand who educate our minds: "The distance prevents compassion," "Those who love are better," "The commitment makes them happy," "It is too late to be pessimistic." All these sentences, both sides, to hold hands. You want to cheer! It radiates wisdom and knowledge.
I imagine a sharpened sensitivity, develops and learns. So I plunged back into the 3 DVD "The Earth from Above" in small sips, piecemeal, to savor each image; nice Christmas gift from my brother, and I note in passing with a wink "if Fragile, "" so beautiful "written on the box, it's groovy! The voice of Bernard Giraudeau as always moves me ...
As for Nicolas (Dijon), an extract of Impressionist ... Looking in my head: "The world the beauty of the look that it poses."
Thank you, Yves!
Thierry
You do not need to see to love.
The world, even though I have eyes to see, I have everything else to touch, feel and above all feel it.
I repeat here a phrase from a friend in one of his songs:
And as an airman said the globe trotter of the stars,
one sees clearly only with the heart, the eyes you see quedal!
I do not see things the same way you or almost all, but we all have the same mission to accomplish, it is necessary that our earth revolves more around, our world is more just.
We're all in this together, and we must all be careful not to capsize.
Thanks Yves, to guide us through your path and help us stay the course.
Stephanie
But I love the Green Giant, but I knew it was arthur bertrand yann who fabriquait.J 'to take my hat off, he already has a lot of work to lead his helicopter in addition it is canned!
Good evening
I lived a good time this summer, visiting the beautiful exhibition designed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, the Montreal Botanical Garden.
I was pleased also to see a documentary series by Mr. Bertrand on TV lately, gorgeous images, and meetings with people who care more for the environment.
The address of the site of the City of Montreal, for those who would like more information about this exhibition, which ended Oct. 13.

Yves thank you for giving us the good news:
Yann-Arthus Bertrand at The Academy of Fine Arts.
Finally a simple man and full of common sense to the rank of honor!
We are very proud.
This man has been knocked about a lot of time in Africa and elsewhere ...
We, we know recently with these richly illustrated books of his photos shock but very real.
His reports were able to finally open our eyes to a world of great uncertainty: global warming, endangered species and we decide to eat "differently"!
So we, tiny sand dust agglomeration us to be stronger each day and participate in the welfare of our planet.
One day we will form the dune that will eventually stop desertification?
All our friendship.

Dear Yves, Friends,
I had noticed for several weeks, it happens.
On TV, film, DVD, Internet: The film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand "Home".
More than words, more than the eye placed in front of beautiful images, the awareness that our world is wonderful but fragile and must be loved and respected.
Asked every look with the heart is a point winner.
Friends
Daniel
I'm surprised by the consensus achieved by YAB.
For me work comes entirely through the green waching. The environmental argument is fallacious: it is a marketing tool (see the number of books sold, the great exhibition last year in Paris, he has all the words ...).
It's an aesthetic vision of ecology and media that appeals to power and does not correspond at all to my vision.
Hello Yves, Noëlle Hello, Hello,
The message of Marie-Aude disturbs me. To be honest, friends' blogs from "Yves, these lines dry, cut by sickle, without argument or poetry, also closed an oyster to which there is no knife suitable for opening seem strange contrast with all posts filled with light, hope, confidence and smiles I used to be here ...
Why is it, where an opinion is not like theirs, some are too tight to the idea of hearing a different tune than they usually delight?
What reproaches Marie-Aude Does Yann Artus Bertrand? In a few sentences cryptic, it evokes the "Green Watching" without taking the time to explain to as many people what it means exactly that phrase. The basic rule of teaching is to decode a message to make it intelligible to all, let me clarify here that this term actually refers to a marketing technique relatively popular today, especially in companies with production is at least suspected of not being without harming the environment. For example, a car manufacturer will seek to demonstrate that its new range of vehicles are "environmentally friendly". A company producing yoghurt will highlight the use of fruits in plants come from local farms in order to limit the "footprint" of its production. Similarly, a cosmetics brand has been in the past accused of using whale blubber to produce its lipsticks will result in a "friendly nature" to rebuild their virginity. You will now all recognize a company practicing this form of advertising.
So, in short, what the "Green Watching."
By associating his name with this marketing technique, Marie-Aude seems to consider that Yann Artus Bertrand has no real interest in saving our planet and it directs its action through pure self-interest, in order to sell more and more books more than DVDs and other products, in short, the ultimate goal of his media image perfect. I think it's a charge as serious as biased.
Moreover, in its small concluding sentence, Marie-Aude is betrayed: his greatest reproach Yann Artus Bertrand is "to please the power", adding she does "not correspond to his vision ". The complaint is the great, the great fault is that of Yann Artus Bertrand has the art of making audible, for giving a common sense at all to the word "ecology" to have reconciled with their universality own because he does not regard the world with only one half of his brain, to educate our leaders of every stripe. And yes, Marie-Aude, the "feeling green" is not "left". It is not "right" or "center": it belongs to everyone. Open your eyes: you will see that the world is more beautiful in stereo when it comes to dealing with its backup.
That's it. It was my last little "positive anger" of the year. I find it hard to accept that a charge of this kind can be worn without being argued, supported, developed, or be a debate in which the principal applicant could respond to his accusers. It reminds me too how, dear Yves, you still have recently had to defend yourself because you were "insert" authority by the media, and even the CSA!
In one of your columns taken from "Panorama", dear Yves, you ask a fundamental question: "Can we live without beauty?". The answer is in one of your songs: "The world the beauty of the view that it poses." Personally, I prefer to keep a positive outlook on the work of Yann Artus Bertrand, because in this particular area, there are no unwelcome initiative as long as it helps get things in the right direction ...
Love to all, and Big Hugs to Yves and Christmas.
Hélène.
Hello Yves, Noëlle Hello, Hello,
The submarine base of Bordeaux is not the place most of the gay world: the thick walls, massive, designed to withstand (with efficiency!) Bombing allies have long been the effect of a foil, to that this building that looks like a gigantic bunker finally slowly shrink a suit without a cultural trappings adorn themselves from oblivion.
Thursday, July 8 at the submarine base of Bordeaux, the framework was both sepulchral, almost sinister, but also surprising contrast. For its opening, "6 Billion Others", the traveling video exhibition designed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand has suddenly illuminated the scene of a glimmer of hope.
At the heart of the former German base, there is something disturbing, symbolic of magnificent to see this great video wall on which appear randomly in a mosaic of 5000 faces Earthlings telling snippets of their lives , their happiness, their misery, too, and rub the final traces of brutal dictatorship fortunately defeated.
"Achtung!" Warns an old inscription in red letters threatening a little spent on a white background worn and chipped. Indeed, it should be careful ... the purpose of opening the eyes, ears, and look, listen. Not just see or hear. Pay attention. Sit in one of the 21 containers transformed into mini theaters and soak stories Take the time to go, come back and say that you always will come out richer than when he entered .
Even our local newspaper has acknowledged, there's nothing cutesy or naive in those films that trace the contours so well of humanity:
http://www.sudouest.fr/2010/07/09/foule-de-visages-135859-625.php
And then the opening night, this July 8, "YAB" was this ... The eyes are clear, bright smile, soft-spoken and poised. Simple, friendly, available. I confirm your appreciation, dear Yves: his eye on the world put his light on this base and infamous momentarily transformed. To be able to exchange a few words with our "Green Giant", I discovered in her eyes the same depth, the same sweet intensity than in Nicollier, Swiss astronaut, who also, as Bertrand Piccard, can "change altitude "to observe the world with clarity.
There is definitely no doubt: "The world the beauty of the view that it poses" ... and there are certain characters that can be said that the meeting left an indelible mark on the heart.
Good evening to all,
Love and kisses to Yves and Christmas, wishing you a safe journey back in Japan.
Hélène.
